Job Description :
The primary responsibility of this role is to assist in the ongoing development, implementation and oversight of the company Maintenance Program. This includes establishing applicable policies and procedures at operating divisions and in monitoring and providing oversight of all dedicated and non dedicated locations ensuring adherence to local, state and client specific guidelines and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To ensure that company policies and procedures pertaining to maintenance are being followed through quality assurance audits.
Is accountable for monitoring and providing assistance to General Managers to ensure the maintenance budget for all assigned MV divisions are within plan.
Conduct reviews of the maintenance staffing and scheduling and to ensure optimal utilization of the maintenance staff.
Provide guidance and approval for the most cost effective repair for major component or body repairs to vehicles.
Is responsible for all the maintenance related tasks on assigned contract start-ups to include; the placement of qualified maintenance staff, vehicle inspections, maintenance equipment and facility improvements.
Ensures that assigned divisions are in compliance with all contractual maintenance requirements which include, all client audits and state inspections.
Monitor the effective use of existing fleet and to maintain spare fleet ratios to an appropriate level as approved by the Vice President of Maintenance
Ensures the company maintenance software program is operating properly at assigned divisions.
Provides training to maintenance managers on how to maintain optimal parts inventories without overstocking.
Effectively provide for the training of maintenance staff through internal training and approved vendor training with assistance from the Corporate Office.
Assist in the development of maintenance policies and programs recognized within the transit industry. These programs will be approved by corporate staff and board of directors.
Ensure all assigned divisions in compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental laws. This includes non MV locations that are included in the subcontracting portion of the contract.
Ensures an effective process is place at divisions which have vehicles that are under warranty for recovery of all parts and labor.
Ensure all factory recalls are implemented in a timely manner.
Assist all maintenance staff in solving day to day maintenance issues and problems.
Ensure the placement of an efficient and cost-effective preventive maintenance schedule.
Monitor the use of the National Accounts Program at each location.
Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports to both the local President and client.
Attend client meetings and other weekly scheduled reviews.
Provide thorough reports for actions taken or direction provided to any location
Direct oversight of audit team and MDT and Drive cam teams.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Maintain a quality but cost effective maintenance program without sacrificing efficiency or safety.
Maintain company policies for all vehicles and mechanics without sacrificing efficiency or safety.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires candidate to have a minimum of five years comprehensive experience as maintenance Manager and a combination of ten years of general vehicle maintenance experience operating multiple locations and large fleet operations.
Must be self directed and have great communication skills.
Formal education beyond high school is desirable and may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement.
Also, candidates for this position must possess the following: thorough knowledge of mechanical maintenance and repair methods and practices; demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and direct highly varied and complex operations related to vehicle and equipment services; ability to review specifications for new equipment acquisition; ability to schedule time and work load effectively; ability to maintain effective working relationships with Regional Vice Presidents, co-workers, subordinate employees, operations, office, and client agency personnel, and parts equipment suppliers.
This position requires candidate to travel daily between multiple sites within the DC, MD and VA areas. Candidate will have to relocate or live within this area.
