We are currently looking to add a Senior Structural Engineer to support our Denver, Colorado office location.

This position applies advanced knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields, with a specific emphasis on hydraulic containment facilities. The ideal candidate must be able to make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods; represent the organization at conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work; use advanced analysis techniques including the modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines; and assist in the marketing and business development activities of the organization. Supervision and guidance relate largely to overall objectives, critical issues, advanced concepts and policy matters. Applicant must be capable of working effectively with teams and clients, be willing to learn from peers and supervisors, and be willing and capable of mentoring junior staff.

Applicant must be capable of traveling for short periods of time.

The primary responsibilities for this role will include:

* Perform preliminary and detailed structural analysis and design for water and wastewater treatment plants, reservoirs, other hydraulic containment facilities, and industrial buildings.
* Perform preliminary and detailed structural analysis for hydraulic structures and facilities for dams and other hydroelectric related projects, specifically including:
o Intake structures for dams and reservoirs with multi-level gates,
o Penstocks and outlet conduits,
o Energy dissipation structures,
o Control building and gate houses housing mechanical and electrical equipment for operation of dams and reservoirs, and
o Powerhouse structures for hydro-power plants.
* Support multi-disciplinary teams on civil and structural engineering projects.
* Perform preliminary and detailed finite element analysis using linear and non-linear methods.
* Evaluate alternatives and resolve technical questions.
* Assist with preparation of structural budgets and scopes of work.
* Organize, draft and coordinate production of drawings and specifications to ensure technical accuracy.
* Serve as structural engineer on small- to large-sized projects and work on several projects concurrently.
* Design, analyze, and prepare specifications of reinforced concrete and structural steel systems primarily, but also may include aluminum, masonry, timber and other materials.
* Develop Microstation, Revit, and Autocad plans, sections, details, profiles, and 3D models.
* Assist in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, and completing progress reports.
* Project management responsibilities include management of budgets, schedules, and client relations on multiple projects.
* Review Contractor's shop drawing and submittals regarding structural work and investigating and developing engineered solutions to Contractor's Requests for Information.
* Assist technical staff in field activities including site inspections, shop inspections, monitoring and other fieldwork.
* Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
* Receive OSHA training for confined space entry to assist with tunnel (or similar) inspections.
* Occasional travel.


* B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado or licensed PE in another state with ability to obtain Colorado PE within 6 months.
* Desire to obtain state specific Structural Engineering licensure.
* 4 to 7 years experience in the design and implementation of structural systems; preferably in water, wastewater, and industrial waste treatment facilities; dams; or hydroelectric related projects.
* Advanced proficiency with the use of the finite element software, STAAD, RAM, or SAP 2000.
* Advanced 3D/BIM modeling capabilities, along with the ability to produce 2D construction documents.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to prepare complete, concise and organized engineering calculations and analyses.
* Strong willingness to be a part of a large global engineering company, and to work with teams in other offices around the world.
