Job Description

Watts Constructors, a Weitz Company, is continuously looking for an experienced Estimator. Watts Constructors has completed projects for numerous State and Federal agencies, including the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Army, and the National Park Service, in addition to selected private companies.

Essential Duties:

The Estimator will be responsible for all preconstruction cost control functions for construction projects including complete estimates, value analysis, comparisons, assisting with feasibility studies, and historical cost reports. The Estimator must be capable of performing cost control functions on multiple projects of varying complexity simultaneously.
Required Skills

Essential Skills:

This position requires excellent conceptual estimating skills and the ability to identify items required for complete systems, even if not delineated on construction documents. The ability to mentally schedule and construct a building from drawings is essential. A qualified candidate will be able to compare and analyze various systems and related cost impacts, as well as solid leadership skills. Excellent computer skills are important, as is the ability to quickly learn, articulate, and apply new applications as the industry grows and changes. Because this position requires a significant amount of communication with owners, architects, designers, and project managers, good communication and interpersonal skills are important. Organization, quick creative thinking, and the ability to balance and prioritize projects with impending deadlines are also needed.
Required Experience

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each previously stated duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability necessary to succeed as an Estimator:

* A high school diploma is required. An industry-related college degree is strongly preferred.
* 5 (Five) years of conceptual and bid estimating for design-build projects is required
* Must have experience in take-off and hard bid estimating. Hard bid is not negotiated, itís estimating concrete i.e., self perform, lump sum pricing.
* Military project experience required
