Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Project Manager with Higher Education experience for our Portland, Oregon office.

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years direct project management experience in Higher Education related projects, a proven background in generating negotiated work with repeat clients, showing proven leadership and communication skills. With a minimum of 20+ years of overall construction experience. A thorough background in construction trades and extensive structural concrete, steel and wood frame experience. Successful candidate will have a proven record of accomplishment in all phases of project management including business development, estimating, documentation, owner/architect relations, cost monitoring, problem solving and project wrap up.

Essential responsibilities include:
Business Development - Responsible for new client account development, maintaining existing client base and ability to lead and manage multiple project procurements.
Client & Architect Management – Manages client and architect relations.
Project Preconstruction – Leads preconstruction services ensuring accurate project estimates and bids are provided.
Contract Management & Administration, Risk Administration – Manages the risk of each project by ensuring compliance with the prime contract, subcontracts and supply agreements. Verifies owner’s ability to pay and monitors subcontractors’ financial capacity.
Financial Management – Manages all financial aspects of the project including establishing and monitoring the budget and ensuring positive cash flow on the project.
Project Performance – Responsible for overall project performance including: budget, quality, schedule, safety, team management, closeout & warranty.
People Development/Team Relations – Serves as the team leader for projects, effectively utilizing various skills sets and providing coaching and feedback to team members.
Additional Requirements:
Must be an efficient, organized, multi-tasking and positive minded team player.
The position requires business management acumen and must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.
Working knowledge of computer programs including: Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, & project management systems such as CMiC.
Education and/or Experience:
Formal Education : Four year degree in construction management, engineering, building sciences or equivalent experience.
Previous Job Performance/Experience Required : Thorough working knowledge of higher education, student housing, wood frame and commercial construction as related to all disciplines and phases of construction. Experience as the lead Project Manager on Higher Education projects. A minimum of 20 years of experience in the construction industry required and previous experience as a superintendent is preferred.
